Shelter is a basic necessity. How you live or work affects your sense of happiness. The space that suits you is created in stages. The input of the right architect is the first stage.

Architecture is about space: what is possible and what is not. It is also about size, material, zoning plans and money. Good architecture offers that one solution, in the right proportion and implementation. In short: architecture is about art and skill.

Take a look at some of Alexander van Straten's projects. Both architecture (new and existing buildings) and interior projects are presented. Are you interested? Please use the contact button.⬇︎

The extension is not an extension; it became part of the original house.

The values of the existing building have been continued in the new building. Old and new are connected for life.

An old staircase becomes new and modern. The light falls beautifully in the old cellar. The passages are narrow but not too narrow to walk through.

Neclenburg

What started as a small forester's house became an office for the Dutch Export Combination and eventually a beautiful living and working place.

The various insulating elements were given different thicknesses, creating an interesting facade. More importantly: it became whole.

A staircase in a new place. It has a clear function and also creates a visual value.

The passage becomes a door, becomes panelling, becomes a workplace.

Villa in B.

On a relatively small plot, the veranda is the link between house and garden.

Trees give the right scale to this property. It is fantastic when all elements are in their element.

The balcony floor (and the ceiling of the porch) is made of glass building blocks. The outdoor space keeps its intimacy but never gets dark.

When artificial light defines the spot.
